Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan agree on zero quota of sturgeon caviar export in 2010

The Secretariat of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) has published today the export quotas for caviar and other sturgeon products agreed by the Caspian States for 2010.

The Secretariat informs that the 2010 quotas were agreed by Azerbaijan, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Kazakhstan, the Russian Federation and Turkmenistan during a meeting held in Tehran.

EBRD, EIB & WB express interest to upgrade storage and transit of gas to Ukraine

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), European Investment Bank (EIB) and World Bank announced receipt of expressions of interest for consultations in preparation for upgrading storage and transit of gas to Ukraine.

According to the EBRD, the interest will be accepted until 5 pm at London time on 20 August. The consultant is selected within EBRD, EIB & WBG project worth 2bn Euro on behalf of NAK Naftogaz of Ukraine.

Azerbaijan begins making feasibility study on rehabilitation of social infrastructure along Azerbaijani-Armenian border

The Azerbaijani government starts preparing a project within the program of rehabilitation and modernization of social infrastructure along the Azerbaijani-Armenian border.

Azerbaijani government sources say that with the purpose to prepare a feasibility study on restoration of social infrastructure along the border with Armenia the State Budget allocated AZN 150,000.

Germany to create a reserve in Greater Caucasus foothills

The Government of Germany has defined itself with the directions of co-operation with the Ministry of Environment & Natural Resources of Azerbaijan.

Baku-based resident office of German development bank KfW informs that KfW has an agreement with the Azerbaijani government on further co-operation in the field of environmental protection.

Ex-USSR’s first foreign contractor accused of illegal oil production

The first foreign contractor for oil production on the former Soviet Union area has faced problems with authorities of the country where it conduct operations.

Kazakh authorities accused joint venture Tengizchevroil (TCO founded by U.S. Chevron for development of onshore field Tengiz) of illegal oil production. But TCO disagrees with that.

2-3 August; Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Coordinating Council can initiate actions for the railway project

The terms of the IX meeting of the Coordinating Council of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railway Project have been fixed.

Musa Panakhov, deputy transport minister of Azerbaijan, says that the Council will

Azerbaijan-Georgia Transport Coordinating Council to deal with terminal loading increase

The Transport Coordinating Council established at the 6th Baku session of the Azerbaijan-Georgia Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Co-operation is preparing to launch its activity.

Musa Panakhov, deputy transport minister of Azerbaijan, says that the Council has been set up recently and it is difficult to predict now terms of its first session.

Turkey once again raises issue of abolition of visa regime with Azerbaijan

During his visit to Azerbaijan state minister of foreign trade of Turkey Zafer Chaglayan has re-raised the matter of cancellation of visa regime in relations between the two countries.

July 29, in Baku Chaglayan has claimed that the abolition of visa regime between both states will become an important new step to enhance cooperation. "Cancellation of visas will increase our mutual trade and tourism,” he said.

Azerbaijan-Georgia promote white stream hopes

Energy officials from Georgia and Azerbaijan, along with other stakeholders in a proposed trans-Black Sea natural gas pipeline, sought to rally international support for the project during a Tbilisi conference on April 2.

The project, known as White Stream, envisages the construction of a new conduit from the existing South Caucasus Pipeline to the Georgian hamlet of Supsa, near the Black Sea coast. Read more >

Public hearings of ‘First round of Nabucco’ Project completed in Turkey

The first round of Nabucco Project public hearings in Turkey has been successfully completed.

RWE reports that during the last two weeks hearings have taken place in the cities of Ankara, Eskisehir, Bursa, Balikesir, Tekirdag and Kırklareli.
