Azerbaijan introduces system of family doctors and training of paramedics
With World Bank’s assistance the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan has introduced family doctor system in the country not waiting for legislative support of family medicine.
The Bank says that by the health minister’s order the district doctors were transferred to the status of family physicians, and the process of their retraining began.
"Appropriate training courses are under completion in Shaki and Ismailli regions of the country. Only doctors will be subjected to retraining. The process of re-training and re-profiling will also cover paramedical personnel,” the WB indicated. Read more >

Azerbaijan defines expenses of national space operator till 2013
Preparation for the start of activity of the “Azerkosmos” OJSC, approved by a decree of Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev in May, is going to be finished.
Presently, offers concerning structure, staff schedule and expenditure estimate of “Azerkosmos” for 2010-2013 have already been presented to the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies informed.
In compliance with President’s decree, OJSC, the shares of which belong to the state, was set up at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies for the purpose of placement into orbit of telecommunications satellite, running it and carrying out of exploitation work. Read more >

Holland to assist Azerbaijan for introduction of administrative court
Holland Minister of Justice Ernst Hirsch Ballin arrived in Azerbaijan at the invitation of Azerbaijani Minister of Justice Fikrat Mammadov.
August 9, Emst Hirsch was received by F. Mammadov and stated about preparedness to continue supporting development of legal reform in Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Justice informed. As the result, the parties agreed on cooperation in the sphere of administrative justice, development of the Academy of Justice, trainings for judges and candidates for judges, including education abroad, cooperation with NGOs and penitentiary reform.
It should be noted that earlier Azerbaijan put off practical introduction of administrative court in the country.

Issue of staff to serve new Baku Port rose in Azerbaijan
The project of new Baku International Sea Trade Port in Alat settlement in 40 km from the capital of Azerbaijan (the Project is now at stage of approval of the environmental impact assessment (EIA)) has encountered serious problems.

USAID begins training of Azerbaijani specialists on modeling of macroeconomic equilibrium
9 August, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has conducted training course "Improvement of macroeconomic modeling knowledge” within the framework of "Trade & investment reform support in Azerbaijan".
The Ministry of Economic Development of Azerbaijan informs that the head of the project component on sat expenditures Dipak Kapur emphasized the responsibility of the MED Scientific Research Institute of Economic Reforms for the rightness of forecasting and analysis of socio-economic development and the importance of such training courses.
