EBRD, EIB & WB express interest to upgrade storage and transit of gas to Ukraine

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), European Investment Bank (EIB) and World Bank announced receipt of expressions of interest for consultations in preparation for upgrading storage and transit of gas to Ukraine.

According to the EBRD, the interest will be accepted until 5 pm at London time on 20 August. The consultant is selected within EBRD, EIB & WBG project worth 2bn Euro on behalf of NAK Naftogaz of Ukraine.

The consultant should carry out strategic study of Ukraine’s role as gas transit country; make feasibility study for western and southern transit corridor modernization; and feasibility study for modernization and rehabilitation of underground gas storage facilities.

The second block of consultant’s challenge is to prepare an Environmental and Social Assessment (ESA) Report and an Environmental Management Plan (EMP).
The assignment is expected to start in December 2010 and be completed within three months.

Maximum budget available for the Assignment is EUR 2.5 million, exclusive of VAT.
Financing will be conducted from European Union’s Neighbourhood Investment Facility.

Corporate services are required. The Consultant should be a consulting firm or a consortium of firms with relevant project experience in gas transit and storage matters, with particular knowledge of applicable regulations in the gas transmission activity. Consultant team will consist of project manager and experts in gas transmission planning, gas pipeline design, mechanical engineering, SCADA, power generation, other engineers, environmental experts, economic and market experts, financial experts and Ukrainian gas transmission specialists.
